Casey will be holding a workshop on November 8 at Open Door Studio, as part of their multi-media art exhibit “Bambi in Blue,” which will be displayed at Junction Arts and Media (JAM) during the month of November. The workshop is inspired by Casey’s study of the Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, a somatic expressive arts methodology developed over five decades by Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin, leading pioneers in the field of movement/dance education and therapy.

The workshop will center the expressive body through guided prompts, and include imaginative drawing and writing on personal and collective themes. Range of motion and expression will be explored and expanded.Witnessing and sharing will be part of the experience. No formal dance or art experience is necessary.

Sponsored by Junction Arts and Media (JAM) and in partnership with Open Door Integrative Wellness, the workshop is free but space is limited.

About the Instructor:
Casey Carney (they/them) is an artist and educator who is engaged in poetry, photography, videography, drawing and dance. They have a passion for somatic expressive arts, and believe that the body holds the intrinsic power of transformative healing through integrating movement awareness, real life concerns and artistic forms.

Casey holds an M.A. in Dance Education and a Level 1 Certification from Tamalpa Institute, founded by Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin. Casey will be completing the Tamalpa Institute formal training program in 2027, culminating in a community project which Casey hopes to offer to under resourced families in the Upper Valley.
