Chinese Medicine offers a unique prism to look at ourselves: there is no distinction between our intangible energy, whether we call it mind, psyche or emotions, and the physical body. They affect one another and manifest as one another in a continuous circle, much like the eternal transformation of Yin and Yang.
One body of research that illustrates this point simply is that of the “power pose” by Carney and Cuddy, 2010 (if you would like to insert a link: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20855902/). If we stand looking relaxed yet powerful, our cognitive abilities change, and so does the ease of thinking happy instead of depressing thoughts. On the other hand, imagine you rush through your house and painfully stub your toe. What do you do? If you are like most people, you are likely to not only cry out in pain, but feel a momentary surge of anger – possibly utter a swearword. Chinese channel theory sees the big toe as especially closely related to anger, as this is the emotion of the JueYin channel of the leg, which passes right there.
In this workshop we will:
explore your unique pattern on tension, stagnation, excess and deficiency
explore the story you are telling yourself through your body
use QiGong exercises to move your energy and shift emotional states
learn QiGong to enhance your confidence, sense of nurturing and self-love,
...which will entail practising fun and invigorating QiGong moves, including Iga’s favourites:
Treasure from the Bottom of the Sea for self-nourishment, Wudang Dragon for power. The exact moves will be tailor-cut to the needs of the group.connect with other individuals on a like-minded journey of healing
breathe and meditate together
be inspired by the theoretical tenets of Chinese medicine and philosophy – in the practical context of managing energy and breath.
Be ready to reflect, transform, and most of all – have fun!
About the instructor:
Iga Amal Czarnawska, MSc Chinese Medicine, MBAcC, LicAc.
Iga Amal has practised the Chinese healing arts for over 15 years. She is an Acupuncturist, QiGong teacher and vitality coach dedicated to helping people blossom into their fullest potential: physically, mentally and spiritually. This involves shedding the limits that may have been “hardwired” into the body and mind by dysfunctional past relationships, stress and other forms of emotional baggage.
Born in Poland and raised in between London and Warsaw, Iga was educated both in the UK and the US. She holds a Master of Science in Chinese Medicine from Confucius Institute, London, and earned a BA, summa cum laude, from Dartmouth College. She first trained QiGong and Taiji with Grandmaster Tung in Malaysia, and went on to win Taiji competitions.
As a research lecturer at International College of Oriental Medicine and a long-time practitioner, Iga combines the clarity of science with ancient wisdom. Her goal is to foster a deep regeneration beyond a mere treatment of symptoms of ill health. Iga addresses the causes of physical and mental illness by engaging the natural healing pathways inherent in every human body, whether by unblocking pathways of stuck Qi, or freeing minds from their imprisonment within old defensive patterns – which, when understood, are one and the same. Blending acupuncture, coaching, QiGong, and psychosomatic trauma therapies, Iga sees herself as a catalyst: empowering people to understand and heal themselves.
Iga’s work — whether in the clinic, online, or in her QiGong practice — is about transformation. She helps people not only ease pain and calm anxiety but also guides them toward the release of their hidden past imprints of trauma. Those physically and emotionally touched by her often report having found a greater freedom, clarity, and vitality in life. In her private life, Iga is a mother of three, a black belt practitioner of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (ninjutsu), and an avid hiker and traveler.
