Kelly Armbrust
Kelly Armbrust holds a BA in dance and an MA in somatic psychology/dance therapy and has engaged with dance both artistically and therapeutically for much of her life. As a teacher, her approach blends the traditional and technical with more contemporary and somatic practices, always holding the dual intention of training dancers while supporting her students’ growth as human beings. She believes that dance can connect us more deeply to ourselves and our world, and strives to awaken a growing curiosity and authenticity in her students.
Her work in somatics is informed by many approaches including Authentic Movement, Body Mind Centering, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Christine Caldwell’s Moving Cycle, principles of dance/movement therapy, Heart Math, Polyvagal Theory and contemporary movement/somatic practices. She is also grateful for the deep and daily learning that was so much a part of raising her now adult daughters and that is ever present in the work of growing food and tending the land.
Her work is collaborative and rooted in her abiding trust in the wisdom inherent in every human body. Work may take different forms but always includes building new skills and cultivating the presence and radical acceptance that leads to greater embodiment, authenticity and ease.
